Calls To Services (July 18, to July 24, 2022): The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered eight-five (85) calls.
Jail Population: We currently have fifteen (15) inmates in the following Jails, 9 housed in Newton, 6 housed in Jasper.
Jail Bookings: Last week there were five (5) individuals booked into the NCSO Jail.
ARREST WARRANT : On July 19, 2022, at approximately 1604 hours, Dreshawn Terrell Spikes (B/M, Age 20) was arrested for Theft of Firearm (Section 31.03 (e) (4) (c) PC FS.
Spikes was found to be in possession of a firearm that reported stolen out of a vehicle on July 17, 2022, in the 4400 Block of Hwy 87 North. On July 19th, 2022, Newton PD encountered Spikes and discovered that one of the firearms Spikes had in his possession was reported stolen through our agency. Newton PD escorted Spikes to the Sheriff’s Office for further investigations that confirmed that the firearm was reported stolen, and an arrest warrant was issued. Spikes was arrested on July 19th,2022, and has since been arraigned. His bond was set at $15,000.00. This is an active investigation by both agencies into the vehicle break-ins that occurred between July 17th and July 18th, 2022. If anyone has information regarding these burglaries or has any information on suspicious individuals or vehicles seen during the above timeframe should contact us. Remember to lock our vehicle.
COMMUNITY NOTICE: The Newton County Sheriff’s Office with the Jasper/Newton Juvenile Probation Office are hosting the second session of the SUMMER HORSE CAMP at the Newton County Fair Grounds, 313 Fair Park St. Newton, Texas 75966. Camp Dates Session – Tuesday July 26-29, 2022, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
