Nearly four years after Harvey, the Vidor ISD is getting a new middle school.
Thursday afternoon, school officials had a ground-breaking ceremony to begin construction. G&G Enterprises of Orange is the contractor.
G&G has already started construction on a new campus for Oak Forest Elementary, which was also destroyed in the storm.
Since Harvey flooded the area, the Vidor middle school students, and those at Oak Forest, were divided into groups to have classes at other campuses.
The two schools are costing nearly $19 million with most of the money coming from FEMA.
