On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Deputy Manny Castillo was dispatched to County Road 4154 in Deweyville in reference to reports of a reckless driver.
Deputy Castillo located the vehicle matching the caller’s description and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the occupants, Deputy Castillo observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 1.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 1.16 grams of suspected Xanax, which were located inside a children’s ibuprofen bottle.
The driver, Kerry Lynn Burns Jr. was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substancey PG 1 >1G<4G – F3
The passenger, Austin Michael Boyett, was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug -MA.
