For more than 80 years, Building 1 has been part of the facade at the Dow Sabine River Operations. Built as part of DuPont Sabine River Works in 1945, it has been an iconic part of the landscape along Chemical Row in Orange. After several decades of service as administrative space and impacts from multiple hurricanes, the building is no longer habitable.
Soon deconstruction of Building 1 will begin, reflecting Dow’s commitment to keeping the site safe and looking ahead. The work is not expected to interrupt local traffic or impact the surrounding community. Dow says they do not have any immediate plans for the property once it is cleared.
