
The Life Reflection of Mary (Muda) Alice Green was born in Tatum, Texas, September 11, 1943 to the late Geneva and the late Randolph Cotton. She was united in marriage to the late Duke Henderson Green in 1962. Four children were born, John, Timothy, Callie, and Rhonda.
Mary was a faithful and dedicated member at Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served in many capacities such as the senior gospel choir, mass choir, fine arts director and the manager of the caring kitchen. She also was a planning coor- dinator for the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education for many years.
Mary and her husband were the proud owners of East Town Quick Stop Laundry mat and convenience store. Mary dedicated her life helping others, especially children. She was active with PTA, Campfire, and County Council. Mrs. Green was also a member of Zeta Amicae. will be missed by many who looked up to her and loved her delicious cooking.
She departed her life Sunday, August 15, 2021. In spite of her illness, she still found joy to sing her favorite gospel songs, recite many scriptures from the bible and share a joke.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Geneva and Randolph Cotton; loving husband, Duke Green; brothers, Jessie James Cotton, Randolph Cotton Jr., Leatrice Hunt, Lawrence Green, and Jackie Cotton.
Mary is survived by her four children: sons, John Green of Orange, TX, Timothy Green of Dallas, TX, daughters, Callie Orebo (Craig) of Rayne, LA., Rhonda Orebo (Rick) of Orange, TX; sisters, Naomi Pleasant, Angie Bethany (Thomas) both of Bellwood, IL; brothers, Dr. James Cotton (Venoris) and Julius Cotton (Shirley) both of Longview, TX, Henry Cotton (Twila) of Cleveland, TX, Roosevelt Cotton, Duke Cotton both of Orange, TX; sister in-law, Deborah Cotton, of Beaumont TX; 8 grandchildren, Ebony Green, Bethani Orebo, Joshua Orebo, Mariyah Orebo, Lyrik Green, Denim Orebo, Jazmine Green, and Bailey Green; 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Going home celebration will be on Saturday at Sixth Street Community Church located at 1619 6th Street in Orange. Service time begins at 12:00 noon. Visitation is at 10:30 am til time of service.
