Mary Lou Kennedy, 84, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. Mary Lou’s bright spirit, sparkling eyes, generous love, and happy laughter will remain with all who knew her. She had an infectiously joyous spirit, and that special gift of making everyone she came in contact with feel seen and loved. Whether you met her through family or friends, you were always welcome at the house for Sunday dinner, the Holidays, or to cheer on her beloved Texans. Her life was centered on Christ and connection, and her example and teachings will live on through precious memories and stories as her family and friends proudly carry her love forward.
Mary Lou was born on July 5, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, to Bill and Dorothy Trammell, along with her identical twin, Carol. They grew up in the bustling port town of Orange, Texas in the 40s and were well known as “The Trammell Twins” and proud, fighting Tiger cheerleaders at Lutcher Stark High School Class of 1959. She moved to Houston in 1976 and enjoyed a 40-year career in sales. But her true passion was raising her children and sharing her optimistic outlook and support to her loved ones. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; children Beth Winfrey, Carol Webster (Jim), Jo Lynn Winfrey (Doug), Sonia Clements (Dale), Stephanie Arcement (Curt), Herman Kennedy (Sherri) and Joey Kennedy along with grandchildren Leslie Clements, Jacob Clements (Heather), Ryan Baker, Jared Baker (Tori), Emily Arcement, Haleigh Nelson (Jimmy), Rachael Winfrey, Christopher Kennedy (Brandi), Makayla Mendoza (Tony), Maddie Kennedy, and Millicent Kennedy, great-grandchildren Ava, Ani, Braxon, William, Seth, Suzi, Ali, Aubree, Brynlee, and Silas, sisters Carol McCllelland (Wayne) and Nell Sparks (David), along with a gazillion nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at 2:00PM on April 18, 2026, where stories, laughter, and memories are encouraged—just the way she would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Orange Christian Services.
