Mark Eugene Cleaver
23 February 1957 – 17 February 2023
On the morning of 17 February 2023, Mark Eugene Cleaver passed away peacefully in Wimberley, Texas after a lengthy battle with illness. It was 23 February 1957, when Mark Eugene was born at Orange City Hospital, located at Burton and Twentieth Streets in Orange, Texas. Mark was the second son of Patrick Henry and Dolores Kelly Cleaver.
Mark was a kind and sensitive soul, with a smile that would brighten up anyone’s day. He was a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School, Class of 1975. Growing up, Mark and his neighbourhood friends were adventurous and very creative; any gettogether would almost certainly end with stories that would be revealed much later on; their first skateboards were planks of old wood and the wheels off old metal skates; which led to another passion of his, which was surfing. Mark grew up surfing the Gulf Coast and even travelled down to Costa Rica to pursue his love of the sport. He also loved attending Astros baseball games with his grandfather. He loved the outdoors all of his life and loved to explore so much that he and Sarah would occasionally go to the outback of Colorado, and Mexico camping.
Mark loved his family, friends, the town of Wimberley, and its residents. As there; is where he was the happiest. A man of many talents and gifts, most notable was his talent for woodworking and carving. Mark had a very unique eye for capturing nature in his work. His Godgiven creative craftsmanship in wood, metal work and stone was where he was the most content.
He was proceeded in death by his father and mother and both sets of grandparents. Mark Eugene is survived by his daughter, Sarah Lauren Cleaver of Wimberley, Texas, and his brothers; William “Bill” Henry and wife Therese of Atlanta, Georgia, Patrick Alan and wife Sharla of Waxahachie, Texas, and Jay Todd
Lafayette of Orange, Texas; nieces and nephews, Jessica Marie Wine and husband Joshua of Spanish Fort, Alabama, Shawna Marie Cunningham and husband Derrick of Ennis, Texas, Patrick Justin Cleaver of Waxahachie, Texas and Godfrey Alexander of Orange, Texas.
