
The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Louella Mayo , 91, of Orange, will be Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at 11am at Morning Star Baptist Church in Vinton, LA.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11am.
Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Edgerly Memorial Cemetery in Edgerly, LA , under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Louella (Lou) Grogan Mayo was born April 27, 1935, in Vinton, Louisiana, the eleventh of fifteen-children born to Judy Elizabeth (Rice) Grogan and Reverend John Sydney Grogan. Her father was a renown pastor throughout the states of Texas and Louisiana, and her mother was a sweet humble woman that believed in helping her community and sharing the Word of God. Louella received Christ at an early age, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Vinton, Louisiana, where she worked in the church alongside her sisters and brothers.
Upon graduating from high school, she entered into matrimony with Mr. Bertrand (Stack) Mayo of Orange, Texas and their union was blessed with three beautiful boys, Bertrand Jr., Frederick and Willis Ray Mayo.
In November 1968, Louella relocated to Oakland, California where she was employed at Kaiser Medical Center and Mayfair Shopping Center. Subsequently, in 1971, she moved to San Jose, California where she held a position at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant alongside her brother, Nathaniel, as well as serving as a Wearhouse Manager. Following these endeavors, Louella returned to Oakland and established her own house cleaning business.
Louella subsequently retired from her professional career, embracing a fulfilling life. In 2014, she relocated to Texas where she resided with her two sons, and cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until her recent passing.
Louella leaves behind a great legacy; One son Frederick (Katherine), three grandsons, Roderick (Celene), Anthony (Ashely) and Willie, one granddaughter Crystal, seven great grandchildren, Kassidy, Roderick Jr., Damien, Zyon, Bailey, Miah, and Autumn, three sisters, Ethel Verdine of Fuquay NC, Mary Davis of Roxboro, NC, and Jeanette Anderson of Vinton, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Louella was preceded in death by her spouse, two sons, Bertrand Jr. and Willis Ray, her parents, four sisters, Elizabeth Taylor, Isabell Alexander, Earlene Keys and Ruthie Mae Washington, seven brothers, James, Lee Albert, William, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Ellis, and Johnny and her grandparents.
