The City of Pinehurst has a new police chief. The City Council selected Jimmy LeBoeuf Tuesday night to replace Fred Hanauer as the Chief of Police in Pinehurst.
LeBoeuf was one of three finalists who were interviewed by the council on Tuesday. LeBoeuf expressed his excitement about being named the next police chief in Pinehurst having worked part-time with the department previously and is looking forward to it.
After working 28 years for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, LeBoeuf retired briefly before working with the Police Academy at the Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT). He has been retired from LIT for about five months and is ready to go to work in Pinehurst.
LeBoeuf replaces Fred Hanauer who served as the Pinehurst Police Chief for 12 years before he retired in February. LeBoeuf said he looks to develop a strong relationship between the police department and the Pinehurst community very much like Hanauer had done.
