It’s a familiar sight in Bridge City, high school baseball players signing to play at the next level. And on Monday, Slade Landry and Jackson Jones inked their names on scholarships. Landry to Tyler JC and Jones to Angelina JC.
Athletic Director Josh Smalley welcomed the large crowd to the signing and congratulated both and their families. Head baseball coach Chad Landry also spoke about the two infielder/pitchers, choking back a few tears with Slade being his son. And both players read statements thanking their families and coaches for their help along their journey.
Landry has started since his freshman year in which he was District 18-4A 2nd Team at First base. On the 2025 State Semi-finalist team he was First Team All-District, All-KOGT, and a member of the Cameron Yoe All Tournament Team.
In his junior year he was named TSWA All State, All-KOGT Offensive MVP, Perfect Game Preseason All American (Texas), Perfect Game Top 100 Ranking (Texas), District 18-4A Offensive MVP, Enterprise Super Gold Team, and THSBCA All State.
Jones is in his first season at Bridge City after spending time in the Beaumont Kelly program. He is expected to play in the infield, pitch and possible lead off for the Cardinals.
After his senior season Jones will join the Roadrunners, who featured a half dozen players from the 409 last season.
