Don Howeth, 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
A proud United States Marine, devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather, Don was a man who valued hard work, family, and the simple joys of life. After serving his country, he spent many years working in mechanical maintenance and process operations at Owens Illinois paper mill, providing for the family he loved so dearly. Known for his sense of humor and hardworking nature, Don had a way of bringing laughter to those around him and creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Perhaps one of Don’s greatest legacies was the example he set for his family. A devoted man of God, he lived a life rooted in faith, love, and integrity. His righteous character and steadfast loyalty were evident in the way he lived, the principles he stood by, and the way he treated others. He was someone his family and his peers could always look up to, and the values he lived by will continue to guide them for years to come.
At the heart of Don’s life was his beloved wife, Beth, with whom he shared more than 60 years of marriage. Their years together were a testament to the enduring bond they shared, standing beside one another through all that life brought their way.
As his life drew to a close, Don was surrounded by the unwavering love and devotion of his family. Those closest to him made it their mission to ensure he was cared for with the same tenderness, dignity, and compassion he had shown them throughout his life.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Beth Howeth; his children, Donna Jackson and her husband, Mark, and Jim Howeth and his husband, Rod; his grandchildren, Colby Grider, Kayci Grider and her fiancé, Tony Skinner, Alonzo Tobias, and Rhys Tobias; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, M.B. Howeth, and his mother, Ozie Howeth.
