Commercial building picked up in January, according to the city of Orange building permits. In addition, houses are still being renovated after Hurricane Harvey damages 18 months ago.
In the commercial category of permits, Gabor Properties is constructing a $110,000 new building at 212 Border Street near the Orange County Courthouse. The Hinds Family Partnest has a permit for a $45,000 new building at 805 Canter Street.
Ron McAnelley received two permits totaling $72,900 for the structure and then the interior of a building at 3875 Interstate 10. McAnelley is building new facilities for Triangle Rescue Training, which is going up east of the local Red Cross headquarters.
The McDonald’s restaurant on Highway 62 received a permit for remodeling valued at $100,000. Other buildings being remodeled are one owned by Charles Guillory at 2418 16th Street with a $15,000 project, and a repairs project valued at $29,352 for U.S. Triumph at 2220 Highway 62.
Petroleum Wholesale, which operates a convenience store at 333 Lutcher Drive, received a permit for $3,500 in repairs.
The largest project of the month went to Kroger on 16th Street. The store had a new HVAC system valued at 4349,578 installed. Dr. Keith Kyle, a dentist on 16th Street, had $13,700 new system.
The city issued five residential remodeling permits for Harvey repairs. The city has been waiving the building permit fees for people repairing flood damage.
Two residential roof projects in the month totaled $19,500 and two concrete residential projects totaled $5,200. In addition, a house on College Street is getting a $40,000 garage with concrete work, and a permit for a carport worth $6,623 was issued.
Two houses in town got new mechanical systems for air conditioning and heating for a total value of $9,434.
And a house in the 1900 block of Burton Avenue is getting a swimming pool valued at $70,000.
