The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Gloria J. Harmon, 79, of Orange, will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11am, at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Hollywood Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 until 11 am.
Gloria Jean Harmon was born on September 21, 1945, to Vernon Gray Sr. and Mary E. Gray in Orange, TX. She was the eldest of five children. Gloria grew up in Orange, TX and graduated from M.B. North High School in 1965. She married her high school sweetheart, Percy Harmon on March 4, 1968. Together, they had two children: Michelle D. Harmon-Blanchard and Quintella R. Harmon.
Gloria loved the Lord, and she was an active member at St. Therese Catholic Church for many years where she served on several committees and was a part of many different auxiliaries. In addition, she sang in the choir there for years under the direction of Joan Adams. Years later, she united with Orange Gospel Assembly under the leadership of Pastor Isaac Ackah.
Gloria was truly a fashionista! She worked many years at Tiffany’s Centerstage Boutique as a Retail Specialist here in Orange. After her time at Tiffany’s, she began working at Lookin’ Good Boutique. Gloria truly had an eye for fashion. She loved glamor and wanted everything to sparkle. Gloria also had a love for music, and she loved going to Gospel concerts.
Gloria was so kind, and she always had an encouraging word to say. Her smile was so bright that it could light up a room. She was outgoing and had a love for people. She was a rare jewel with a beautiful spirit, and she was a blessing to all who knew her.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents—Vernon Gray Sr. and Mary E. Gray; her daughters—Michelle D. Harmon-Blanchard and Quintella R. Harmon; her siblings—Vernon Gray Jr. (Yvonne), John H. Gray Sr. (Sandra), Willie Michael Gray (Betty Jean), and Lynette Graham (Jimmy).
She leaves to cherish her memory to: her husband—Percy Harmon, her grandchildren—Rashondria Daniel (Donald), D’Metree Blanchard, and Jaleecia Jones; her great- grandson—Kneko Blanchard; her sister—Bonnie Coleman (Wyland); her brother—Vernon Wayne; her godchildren—Kendrick Phillips Sr., Connie Dantley, Steven Williams Jr., and Karson Joulevette, and a host of relatives and close friends.
