Two incumbent Orange City Council members filed for re-election Wednesday, the first day of filing for the May 7 election. Mary McKenna is seeking her second three-year term for Single Member District 4. Bill Mello, who was first elected to the council in 2010, is running again for the At-Large Position 5.
Bridge City will be getting a new mayor in May because Mayor Kirk Roccaforte has served the maximum amount of time allowed under the city’s term limits. But he told KOGT that he plans on filing for one of the council seats.
Filing for that position and others on city councils and school boards will start Wednesday, January 20. Filing will continue through February 20 and the election is May 7. Filings are also open for boards of directors at the Orange County Drainage District and the Orange County Port and Navigation District. Candidates may file for the public positions at the administration buildings for each entity during regular business hours.
The Orangefield ISD and Deweyville ISD have board elections in November.
