Interment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orange, Texas. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Dorman Funeral Home.
Ethel was born in Springfield, Missouri on March 8, 1926 to parents, Maude Gregory Tuter and Roy Tuter. She met her future husband, John in Springfield at a drug store and the two became quite smitten with each other. They married in 1944 and John left to serve his country in WWII, where he fought valiantly at the Battle of the Bulge. Ethel served her country as well working to make uniforms for soldiers; however she sewed all of the zippers upside down.
When John came home from the war, he swore he would never be that cold again, so he moved his family to Orange, Texas where the couple raised their 3 children, Connie, Cathey and Johnny. Ethel always had a meal on the table at 4:00 PM, because that’s always when everyone got home. She was the kind of mother that always made everyone their favorite cookies, even though it was 3 different cookies. After, the children were grown and on their own, she began working in the cafeteria at LCM. This is truly what she needed to fulfill her days and Ethel dearly loved her LCM family.
After Ethel and John retired, they began traveling all over the US. John played the banjo in a bluegrass band and Ethel was along for the ride. She made many wonderful friends that she would crotchet with during Bluegrass festivals. While not on the road the couple resided at Toledo Bend. Ethel enjoyed the outdoors, where she spent countless hours bird watching. She always had a love of deer hunting and fishing and she was able to pass that down to her grandchildren. Ethel and John also loved their woodcrafts, he cut and she painted. The couple shared over 63 wonderful years together. Ethel was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Fleming; parents, Roy and Maude Tuter; brothers, Bob Tuter, Jim Tuter, Glen Tuter; and sister, Alene Hall.
