
On May 3, 2023, a federal grand jury indicted Aubrey Young, 36-year-old male of New Orleans, Louisiana, on the violations of Carjacking (18 U.S.C. § 2119), Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1)) and Brandishing a Firearm, During and In Relation to, a Crime of Violence (18 U.S.C. § 924(c)).
On October 26, 2023, Young, a five-time convicted felon, brandished a firearm while attempting to steal a car in the City of Vidor, Texas. Officers were dispatched to the 300 Block of North Lakeside and learned that Young had fled the area with the victims’ vehicle. A broadcast to attempt to locate was disseminated to other law enforcement in the area.
A short time later, officers with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and game warden with the Texas Department of Parks & Wildlife were able to locate the vehicle and, after a brief pursuit, took Young into custody.
The Chambers County District Attorney’s Office presented charges on behalf of the State of Texas earlier this year. Young was indicted by a Chambers County grand jury for Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
If convicted, Young could face up to 15 years of imprisonment on (18 U.S.C. § 2119) and (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1)) as well as no less than 5 years for (18 U.S.C. § 924(c)).

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at approximately 3:10 PM, the Vidor Police Department Dispatch Center received a call of a carjacking that had just occurred in the 300 block of N. Lakeside, just off of IH-10. The caller advised that he had just witnessed a carjacking a 2022 White Audi SUV. The suspect was described as a Black male, wearing a black shirt, black shirt with long dreadlocks. The caller advised that the vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed. Upon arrival of patrol units in the area, officers located a male and female, that were the victims.
The Victims advised that they were sitting in their vehicle discussing a home that they are building in the 300 block of N. Lakeside. They were approached by a black male that was very friendly at first asking if they had any work that he could do? When they stated “No”, the black male produced a pistol and demanded the vehicle and keys. The male was last seen driving Northbound on N. Lakeside. The male and female were not injured.
The Vidor Police Department immediately advised all surrounding law enforcement agencies.
At approximately, 5:00PM, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle at the Stuckey’s on IH-10 and Jenkins Road. The driver, later identified as Aubrey Young, sped off at a high rate of speed causing a pursuit. The vehicle was spiked by a Chambers County unit causing the pursuit to terminate at mile marker 823.
The driver was taken into custody. He was identified as:

He is in the custody of the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges:
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
- Evading Arrest / detention in a Motor Vehicle
- Unlawful Carrying of a weapon
- Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a felon
