The Bridge City Lady Cardinals were two outs away from advancing to the fourth round but two pitches later they were packing their bags as their season came to an end.
In a deciding game three against Liberty Saturday afternoon, BC struck first when Brooklyn Droddy drove home Amaris Larkin in the third.
BC played good defense while Carson Fall was taking care of business in the circle and that 1-0 lead would hold until the bottom of the seventh.
With one out Liberty would load the bases on three hits. Fall then threw a wild pitch over the head of catcher Kaylyn Dosch. Dosch was able to retrieve the ball and throw it to Fall who was covering home. She laid down the tag but the runner kicked the ball out of the glove and the game was tied at one.
On the very next pitch, the batter popped it up in the infield, it was dropped, and the winning run scored from third. Final score 2-1 Liberty.
The Panthers will take on Taylor, who beat Jasper, next week.
