
A fire was reported at the Toledo Bend Hydroelectric Power Plant (Powerhouse) at approximately 7:30 p.m. on August 11, 2026.
Emergency personnel responded to the facility and worked to contain the incident. As of this morning the fire has been extinguished. There were no injuries, and there is no threat to public safety or the integrity of Toledo Bend Dam.
The incident occurred in electrical components associated with one of the generators. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Toledo Bend Powerhouse Unit 1 has been taken offline; however, Unit 2 remains operational and is currently scheduled to continue generating power.
“Our first priority is the safety of our employees, emergency responders, the public, and the continued safe operation of the Toledo Bend facility,” said David Montagne, SRA-TX General Manager. “We are working closely with our partners and the appropriate authorities to assess the facility and determine the cause and extent of the incident. We also would like to extend our appreciation to our local first responders and the Texas Department of Emergency Management who responded to the incident.”
