The Orangefield Bobcats are making their first trip to the 3AD1 Semifinals after a 74-68 win over Fairfield Friday night in Livingston.
The Bobcats (34-3) came out hot and built a double digit lead over the Eagles. They would lead 22-14 after one. In the second quarter the Bobcats cooled off a little while Fairfield starting hitting free throws. They tied it up on three occasions but never took the lead.
At the half OF had a 39-33 advantage. The Eagles were 17-25 from the free throw line and the Bobcats were 3-6.
In the third it was some of the same as the Bobcats would push out front, only to have Fairfield come back and keep the game competitive.
It was free throws that kept the Eagles (22-9) in the first half and it was free throws that sealed the victory for OF in the fourth. Fairfield put Orangefield on the line and the Bobcats went 14-18 including 9-10 for senior Jaden Scales who finished with 23 points. He also played the whole second half with three fouls.
The big man in the middle, Carson Willis hit two big three’s in the third and finished with 21. Rylan Agerton added 10. Jack Luker, Ryan McAlpin, and Jaxon Agerton added great defense.
The Bobcats will play Corpus Christi London in the Semifinals, on Tuesday at 7pm at Bay City HS. London (38-1) beat Goliad 68-61.
