Betty Nell was born January 22, 1932, in Orange, Texas to Rillius Earl Prince, Sr. and Margaret Harper Prince. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 5, 2025, at the age of 92.
Betty Nell graduated from Stark High School where she was a member of the Bengal Guards and later attended Stephen F. Austin University. While working at Texaco, she got engaged to and later married Roger Futch, her husband of 65 years. She was involved in several activities during her lifetime including being a lifetime member of
PTA, a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a Bluebird and Campfire leader. She had several hobbies including bowling, quilting and sewing, and collecting state quarters. She loved attending all of her grand and great-grandchildren’s activities and making scrapbooks for them. Most of all, she loved working on the family tree.
She also enjoyed camping trips to Mill Creek Park on Sam Rayburn Lake with lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Futch, her parents Rillius and Margaret Prince, and her siblings, R.E. Prince, Jr., Addie Prince Futch, Preston Prince, and David (Monk) Prince, also her lifelong friend Margie Schultz and bonus son Keith Parish.
She is survived by her children, Katie Futch Swope, Kim Futch Mitchell, and Karen Futch McClelland (Randall Mac); grandchildren, Brandy Swope (fiancée, Mickey Parker), Connie Swope, Amber Swope Sharp (Daniel), Erin Mitchell Robinson (Cody), Baylee McClelland, and Dalton McClelland (Carey); great grandchildren’ Leyton Sharp
(Kiran Morrison), Reagan Swope, Ellary Nell Robinson, Hattie Belle McClelland, and Emmie Claire McClelland, and bonus sons, Will Parish, Raymond Parish, and Joe Baker.
Visitation will be held from10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with memorial service to follow.
