The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball All-Decade team presented by Whataburger was released on Wednesday, commemorating the best student-athletes to take to the diamond for the Javelinas from 2010 through the 2019 season.
Jaden Dillon of Bridge City was one of three starting pitchers to make the team.
Dillon, the second Javelina taken in the MLB First-Year Player Draft on the All-Decade team, spent only one year in the Blue and Gold as he joined the team in 2012 after spending the previous three years throwing for McNeese State. Despite his one year on the hill for the Hogs, Dillon was named First Team All-South Central Region by Daktronics, Second Team All-Region by the ABCA, was the LSC Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-LSC selection.
The 2012 campaign featured an 8-3 record and 2.56 ERA in 14 starts. He struck out 87 and held opponents to a .221 average in 81 innings pitched en route to his many honors and slotted himself with the third-lowest ERA in the decade, second among all starting pitchers to Tim Jones’ 2.52 ERA in the 2011 season.
Dillon turned in a 13-strikeout performance against Central Oklahoma on February 23 as he allowed only three hits and one unearned run in a 3-1 win over the Bronchos. He also picked up a complete-game shutout of Eastern New Mexico on April 20 as he struck out 11 over seven innings of work and gave up only one hit in the process. Following his lone season in Kingsville, he was selected by Atlanta in the 29th round of the MLB First-year Player Draft as the 899th overall pick and the fifth pitcher in program history to be taken in the draft, first since Sam Strickland in 2009.
