Bridge City’s Madeleine Doyle and Austin Hathaway competed in the 122nd contest of the Stark Reading County Finals at the Lutcher Theater Tuesday night.
Doyle was first in Declamation and Hathaway was first in Interpretive Reading. They won $6500 in additional scholarship money for their first place finish and in total, won $9000 each in scholarships.
Each finalist received an engraved watch, a long time tradition of the Stark Reading Contest.
