Alvin “Hooty” Boyd Nelson, 70, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2026, at his residence.
A native of Robstown, Texas, Hooty was a longtime resident of Vidor, where he built a life centered around hard work, family, and the people he loved. Throughout his career, he worked as a truck driver and mechanic, taking pride in providing for his family and always being someone they could depend on.
Above all, Hooty cherished the time he spent with his family. Whether sharing a conversation, making memories, or simply being together, those moments meant the most to him. His family was his greatest source of joy, and the love he had for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will continue to live through each of them.
Hooty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Cheryle Nelson and husband, Michael Hetzel, of Vidor, Texas; Christal McCrandall and husband, Scott, of Beaumont, Texas; and Cynthia Nelson of Vidor, Texas; brother Jim Miitchell and wife Gina of Victoria, Texas; grandchildren, Trevor, Triston, Trent, Jade, Hunter, Waylon, Ella, Kristlyn, and Garrett; and great-grandchildren, Braxton and Jaxon.
