
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate Highway 10 west, near the 870-mile marker, that occurred Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 5:15 a.m., a 2006 Acura passenger car was traveling west and reportedly hydroplaned during a period of rainfall and struck the concrete barrier, causing a chain reaction with a 2018 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer, a 2020 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer and a 2006 GMC pickup.
The driver of the Acura, identified as a 26-year-old male of Orange, was pronounced deceased on scene by a Justice of the Peace.
There were no other injuries reported.

Update: I10 has reopened

As of 8:15am authorities are still on scene of an early morning accident that occurred on I-10 westbound near Cole Creek which is between FM 1136 and 1442.
DPS is reporting seven vehicles involved and one fatality. The investigation is ongoing. The accident happened at approximately 5:30am Tuesday.
