
Funeral services for Mr. William Gilpatrick, 85, of Gary, Texas will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brett Gilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Hawthorns.
Mr. William Ogden Gilpatrick was born October 30, 1940, in Lafayette, LA. He passed this life May 1, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. William was raised by Ruby Gilpatrick and Curry Holden. He graduated from West Orange Stark High School. He married Thelma Louise Ball February 2, 1965, and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2011. Mr. Gilpatrick served in the Merchant Marines and spent his career as a chemist for Dupont retiring after 40 years of service. He was an avid horticulturist, planting fruit and pecan trees throughout his life. William loved his Lord, studying the Bible, in depth studies and literature. He is also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Darlene Gilpatrick and a grandson, Cody Odom.
Mr. Gilpatrick is survived by his children, David L. Gilpatrick and wife Connie, Sarah Gilpatrick Venable, Allen Gilpatrick; brother, Charles Holden; sister, Patsy Willis; grandchildren, Wesley and Misti Odom, Clint Odom, Brett and Brandi Gilpatrick, Joe and Mallori Gilpatrick, Conner and Kaitlynn Gilpatrick, Sierra Gilpatrick and Jesse Gilpatrick; great grandchildren, Avery, Logan, Lucas, Lively, Canaan, Lucca, Adrian, Maverick, Josie and twins on the way; special cousin as a brother, John and Joyce Patty; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Allen Gilpatrick, Wes Odom, Joe Gilpatrick, Conner Gilpatrick, David Gilpartick, Clint Odom and John Patty.
