
Lynda Jean Barney, 82, of Vidor, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at her residence.
A native of Port Sulphur, Louisiana, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Lynda was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Vidor. She worked as a bus driver for Orangefield ISD, where she was known for her kindness and care for the children she transported each day.
Lynda enjoyed quilting and was a proud member of the Calcasieu Cut-Ups. She found great joy in cooking for her family and was especially known for her beautiful roses , which she lovingly tended over the years.
She is survived by her children, John Robert Barney Jr. and wife Margaret of New Hampshire, Mark Leslie Barney and wife Tamra of Vidor, Texas, Kimberley Rachel Burch and husband Mark of Starks, Louisiana, and Scot Alexander Barney and wife Deborah of Minnesota; her siblings, Butch Alexander of Texas and Sherryl Prestenbach and husband Berry of Mississippi; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren Victoria Theresa Barney, Landon Keith Barney, Alexander Barrett Barney, Leighton Charles Barney, Stephanie Jane Barney, Leven Scott Barney, Patrick Crossan Barney, Jeremy John Jaeger, Jessica Leigh Jaeger, Michael Anthony Collins, Nicholas James Collins, Bryan David Collins, Peyton Bailey Hebert, Daimeyon Ryann Collins, Carson Thomas Collins, Carter Anthony Collins, Christian Alexander Collins, Adalyn Rachelle Barney, Chapman Taylor Collins, Jane Eileen Barney, Victoria Carina Loayza, Raelyn Rose Barney, Oliver Charles Barney and extended family members who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Barney Sr.; granddaughter, Lauren Barney; and sisters, Veda Allen and Dean Greer.
Lynda will be remembered for her loving heart, her dedication to her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her.
