
It was a good Friday night as five of our six area teams came home with a victory.
Bridge City 24 H-Jefferson 6
The Cardinals unleashed Ashton Sumrall on the Hawks. After sitting out several weeks with an injury he carried the ball 31 times for 153 yds and caught 4 passes for 46. Defensively the Cards flexed their undefeated muscles, holding the Hawks to 118 yds of offense and one of those plays was for 72 yds. BC travels to Livingston Friday.
LCM 48 Livingston 28
With the game tied at 28 in the third, the Bears exploded for three scores and their third straight win. J’Lynn Morris ran wild and scored three times and QB Jakson Struwe connected on TD passes of 22 (Morris), 65(Dawson Stanley), and 75(KD Reed). The defense was led by Dystan Payne who record 12 tackles. LCM celebrates Homecoming Friday vs. Liberty.
Orangefield 49 Coldspring 13
The Bobcats defense and special teams joined the offense in putting points on the board. Rylan McAlpin blocked a punt and returned it for a score. Linebacker Kaleb Menard intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yds for a touchdown. Menard had a monster game with 19 total tackles. Kyran Morrow also caught two TD passes from Carson Gonzales. Bobcats got to Kirbyville who was off last week.
WOS 33 Jasper 0
Mustangs were glad to be home after 4 weeks away and it showed with a shutout HOCO win. WOS rolled up 340 yds. of offense while allowing just 120. Khelvy Jefferson rushed for 132 and 2 scores. QB Kwalin Dugas scored twice and Anterrion Fontenot scored the other. WOS travels to undefeated Shepherd Friday.
Deweyville 40 Hull-Daisetta 0
The Pirates had the ground game working with 304 yards on 37 carries. QB Jaxon Slone had the most production with 132 yards on on 8 carries and 2 TD’s. Slade Gunter had 62 yards on 4 carries and 1 TD, Lane Burke had his first start in the backfield and 53 yards on 10 carries and 1 TD and Ayden Kelley had 25 yards on 3 carries and 1TD. The Pirates move to 4-3 on the year and 2-1 in District play. Deweyville will host the Evadale Rebels to town Friday in the River Bowl.
Huffman 52 Vidor 38
The Pirates scored the most points in a game this season but they couldn’t keep pace with the Falcons. The Pirate defense is giving up an average of 48 points per game. Vidor will look for its first win Friday against Lumberton.
