On Sept. 10 at 6:30 PM, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the 2400 block of SH-73 in Bridge City. During the traffic stop, deputies developed probable cause to believe the driver, identified as Marvas Turner, was involved in criminal activity. Turner attempted to flee the scene of the traffic stop but was quickly detained for further investigation. A search of Turner’s vehicle revealed one pound two ounces of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and U.S. currency. Turner was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Felony 1, Resisting Arrest, and two outstanding warrants from the City of Orange.
Sheriff Bobby Smith stated, “Law enforcement in Orange County will continue to be relentless in their efforts to stop crime and apprehend those suspected of breaking the law. The latest seizure of illegal narcotics and apprehension of a suspected drug dealer highlights the significance of law enforcement agencies working together. I want to thank the men and women at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orange Police Department, and Bridge City Police Department for their professionalism and teamwork.”
