Baseball Adds 10 JUCO Transfers to Roster
Just a week after announcing a highly-touted class of four-year transfers, Lamar University head baseball coach Will Davis announced the addition of 10 junior college transfers. Reese Beheler (1st Baseman, Wharton JC), Tanner Carlisle (RHP, Paris JC), Caleb Castle (SS, Wharton JC), Wagner Morrissette (RHP, Gaston JC), Fabian Ramirez (RHP, Wharton JC), Julio Ramos (RHP, New Mexico Military Institute), Thomas Reinholt (RHP, Panola JC), Cash Russell (Inf., Temple JC), Josh Shimmin (RHP, Wharton JC) and Reagan Weiblinger (RHP, Alvin JC) will continue their education and play baseball for Lamar.
The incoming class of junior college talent includes seven pitchers (all righthanded) and three infielders with one specifically a shortstop (Castle) and one a first baseman (Beheler). Nine of the players come from Texas junior colleges and one is from the New Mexico JUCO ranks (Ramos).
Friday’s additions to the Cardinals’ signing class brings the total number to 27 with 17 of those coming on the mound (including the nation’s No. 3 ranked class of pitching prospects via the transfer portal).
