The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce on October 1, 2024 awarded LSCO employee, Kendra De La Fuente, employee of the semester and LSCO student, Joshua Taylor, student of the semester. Dr. Shaun McAlpin presented the awards. The ceremony was held in the Ron E. Lewis Library. Both Taylor and De La Fuente were surprised with the awards, and their family members were present to witness the event.
Kendra De La Fuente was recently promoted to Director of Advising, Recruiting and Testing. She is heavily involved at LSCO and throughout the community. She has stepped into the role of Organization Advisor for Student Ambassadors and serves as a board member for the Greater Orange Area Literacy organization.
“Kendra is one of the faces of Lamar Orange.” LSCO employee, Jilliann Bland, said. “She is a dedicated and delightful coworker for this college. She was just promoted to the position of Director of Advising, Recruiting and Testing here at Lamar Orange. Kendra also is involved with most of the events on campus. She holds a position in Staff Senate.”
Josh Taylor is a highly accomplished student at LSCO. He serves as SGA President and was the first student from a two-year college to be elected Chair of the TSUS Student Advisory Board in the summer of 2024. Taylor is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the student organized Bible study at LSCO.
“Josh is our SGA president and is very involved on campus.” Dean of Transfer and Public Service Programs, Robyn Burdette, said. “He is always positive with whoever he is speaking with. This semester on the first day of class, I saw him walk a student across campus to show them where their class was while it was raining outside. He is a true role model student leader.”
Kendra and Josh are dedicated to excellence and represent LSCO exceptionally well. Congratulations to both award recipients on these outstanding accomplishments.
