A woman driving on the Interstate 10 access road Sunday night ended upside down in a ditch after she tried to avoid hitting a bag of trash. Lieutenant Eric Ellison said the ditch had several inches of water in it because of the recent rains. However the woman said she was not injured.
Lieutenant Ellison reported 28-year-old Julia Christen Bradley of Orange was traveling eastbound in the 8400 block of South Lutcher Drive near Mimosa Street. She saw the bag of trash and swerved to the right to avoid hitting it. She lost control and went too far. The Hyundai Elantro sedan rolled over into the ditch and landed on the roof.
An 81-year-old bicyclist riding on a sidewalk was hit by a pickup truck at a 16th Street business about noon Friday. Orange police report the man had minor injuries and was taken to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room by Acadian Ambulance. Patrol Officer B.P. Latiolais said the collision was on private property so the 57-year-old man driving the Dodge Ram pickup truck was not given a ticket. He reported Leroy Hardin was riding a bicycle southbound on the sidewalk in the 3100 block of 16th Street when he was hit by the truck, which was waiting to turn onto the roadway.
Thursday morning, a pickup truck ran off the roadway on MacArthur Drive and hit a utility pole. Orange police report the driver was not hurt. Patrol Officer I. Henry reported the Chevrolet C1500 pickup was traveling eastbound on MacArthur Drive when the truck left the roadway. The driver, 57-year-old David Kevin Adams of Port Arthur, was given a ticket for failure to maintain a single lane.
Orange police Sunday were involved in a high-speed chase of a stolen vehicle from Port Neches. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Port Neches police chased the car through Beaumont, where police there started chasing it. The vehicle went onto Interstate 10 and into Orange County. Orange Police Department picked up the pursuit at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and continued eastbound into Louisiana at the Sulphur exit. Sulphur police stopped the car.
