Two Die In Accident Monday Afternoon
At approximately 3:45p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10, near FM 1135, in Orange County. Preliminary reports indicate that a Saturn passenger vehicle was disabled on the eastbound frontage road of Interstate 10. A Good Samaritan, driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck, pulled in front of the Saturn to assist. The driver of the Ford got out of his vehicle to attach a tow chain to the Saturn when the Saturn was rear-ended by a Ford F-250 pickup truck. Large Power Outage Again Monday
The 2,000-plus Entergy customers that went without electricity Thursday were the same ones who went without power again today during the same time frame. Entergy spokeswoman Kacee Kirschvink said a mechnical problem at a substation was the reason Thursday people went more than two hours without power. At that time, Entergy crews patched up lines to another substation. Kirschvink said a crew worked to fix the problem at the substation. The power was re-routed back to the substation, however a problem still existed. The power went out again. AThe driver of an 18-wheel truck rig went to a hospital with minor injuries early Sunday morning after a collision with a large pickup truck by the LCM Mart, 8270 Highway 87 North. The driver of the pickup truck was ejected after the pickup went into a ditch and was stopped by the dirt embankment. Orange police said he refused treatment at the scene. Bergeron First Team All-SLC
After another stellar season, Kyle Bergeron has been named to the All-Southland Conference baseball team. He played and started in 55 games for the Cardinals, primarily at second base. He finished the regular season ranked second in the league and No. 87 in the nation with 50 RBI. Bergeron also tallied 75 hits, good for fifth in the conference. He averaged 1.36 hits per game, which ranked sixth in the SLC. The Bridge City native was also seventh in the league with 46 runs. The Orange County Texas Exes have awarded four scholarships to local 2018 high school graduates attending UT Austin this fall. LCM High School graduate Aman Tejani is the recipient of the Judge Pat Clark Endowed Scholarship and has been accepted into the McCombs School of Business, majoring in Finance & Accounting.
