The Orange County Texas Exes have awarded four scholarships to local 2018 high school graduates attending UT Austin this fall.
LCM High School graduate Aman Tejani is the recipient of the Judge Pat Clark Endowed Scholarship and has been accepted into the McCombs School of Business, majoring in Finance & Accounting. Aman was captain of the LCM debate team which went to U.I.L. State contest two years. He also participated in the Battlin’ Bear Band, NHS, Key club and other U.I.L events.
Seth LaPray, Vidor High School Salutatorian, received the June & Jesse B. Gunstream Endowed Scholarship for academic excellence. He will enter the Liberal Arts College and major in economics. Seth was active in debate and Mock Trials as well as being NHS president and a varsity basketball player. He was also a member of Youth Leadership of Southeast Texas.
Orangefield High School graduate Zach Dischler has received the Wynne Hunt Memorial Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded to a student with a rich UT family legacy. Zach will major in Exercise Science in the College of Education. He was named to the 1st team Academic All-State football and basketball teams and he participated in U.I.L Literary events. Zach was also named Bridge City Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month.
Alora Jones of LCM high school is the recipient of the James & Charlotte Pruter Memorial Scholarship. Alora was Thespian Society president, Journalism editor and a member of the state qualifying one act play at LCM. She was a regional qualifier in Varsity Cross Country Track and participated in several U.I.L activities and clubs. Alora has been accepted into the Moody College of Communication and will major in Journalism.
