Second Budget Workshop Held Friday
The second budget workshop of the week on Friday gave the Commissioners Court another opportunity to hear from department heads about their needs and concerns for next fiscal. Four departments presented their budget requests and three departments gave capital outlay requests. Two departments with some very expensive capital outlay requests are the Management Information Systems and the Road and Bridge Department. Man Shot In Leg
A man was shot in the thigh Thursday night, but Orange police didn't find out about it until he went to an emergency clinic. Officers first went to the Park Manor Apartments at 10:53 p.m. because of a call about gunshots. No one was outside flagging officers and they could find no signs of a gun being fired. Thirty minutes later, the clinic notified police of the gunshot wound victim. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the man told police three masked men came to his apartment door in a robbery attempt. On Monday, July 16 at 5:40 P.M. Officer J. Lockett responded to Planet Fitness located at 2270 Mac Arthur Drive in Pinehurst in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. The complainant reported that someone entered her vehicle by breaking a window and removed property totaling $1500 including an Apple I-pad. Update: Mr. Bird has informed KOGT that Mattress One has now taken care of their delinquent taxes and are back in business. - A local business has had its assets seized for non-payment of local property taxes. Attorney Steve Bird with Linebarger, Goggan, Blair, & Sampson which handles garnering delinquent taxes in Orange County stated Thursday that the local Mattress One owed almost $9,000 in delinquent taxes.
