The West Orange-Stark Mustangs got off to a slow start but they finished strong and fast in beating Hamshire-Fannett 82-37 at Mustang Gym. Fifty-two of their points came in the second and third quarters as their relentless defense lead to many fast break buckets.
Thomas Wallace had his inside and outside game going with a game high 30 points. That included five 3-pointers and 3-4 at the stripe. KJ Miller also had a good game with 15 points (5-6 FT). Bretlin White added 7, and Aric Cormier 6 for the Mustangs who improve to 2-1 in district and will play at Bridge City Friday. Johnson and Havard scored 10 a piece for the Longhorns (0-4).

Silsbee beat LCM 76-31 Tuesday in 24-4A play. Cameron Parker led the (1-2) Bears with 11 points and Ayson Simmons added 8. Devon McCain led Silsbee (3-0) with 13 while Jordan Adams and Deontre Thomas scored 11 each. The Bears host Hardin-Jefferson Friday.

Bridge City traveled to Hardin-Jefferson and played with the talented Hawks in the first half when they were only down by 10. But the Hawks picked up the pace in the second half in the 76-39 win. BC (1-2) will host WOS Friday.

Lady Bears battle Silsbee

The first eight minutes were great for the Lady Bears. Unfortunately, they had to hate the last three eight minute quarters Tuesday night. Little Cypress-Mauriceville failed to hold the early lead and fell to the Silsbee Lady Tigers 67-46 at the Bear Cave.
Trying to hand the Lady Tigers their first loss in district play LC-M played strong defense to hold a 12-8 advantage after one quarter. Maddie Frey and Alia Brown both scored four points in the opening period.
Silsbee answered the challenge starting in the second frame. With the score tied at 20 the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Bears 6-3 in the closing minutes to take a 26-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Lady Tigers were tenacious on defense forcing numerous turnovers.
The momentum of the second quarter carried over into the second half as Little Cypress-Mauriceville (2-3) never really closed on Silsbee (6-0). The Lady Tigers led by eight after three and pulled away in the final period outscoring LC-M by 13 points. Eight of ten Lady Tigers scored in the game, three in double figures. Dakota Matthews was the high scorer for Silsbee with 15.
The Lady Bears got a strong game from Sheridan Rogers who was tied for high scorer in the game with 15 points. Brown fouled out in the fourth quarter with 12 points. Kaitlyn McCallon tallied 9 for LC-M.
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears close out the first half of district Friday night at Sour Lake against the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks. Silsbee is the winner of the first half of district with an undefeated record, and the Lady Tigers open the second half of district next Tuesday also at Sour Lake against the Lady Hawks. -Dan Perrine, KOGT-
The WOS Lady Mustangs got their first district win, beating (1-4) Hamshire-Fannett 44-39. Eriel Jordan poured in 15 points, A’Dream Beverly 13 and Nakiya Platt added 12. WOS (1-4) will play BC Friday.
Bridge City Lady Cards lost a tough one to (3-2)Hardin-Jefferson 44-41. Missing 13 free throws cost BC (1-4) the chance for a win.
