LCM freshman Eli Peveto finished 13th at the 5K Regional Cross Country Meet and will advance to State in Round Rock on Nov. 7. He ran a time of 19:21 and was the top freshman finisher. The overall winner from Robinson ran 18:02. Bridge City sophomore Isaiah Maldanado finished 23rd overall (19:45) and will also advance.
The top four teams advance to State and unfortunately for the second straight year Bridge City finished in fifth. The Bears finished ninth as a team.
The top four teams and the top ten finishers that aren’t on one of the four teams advancing get to run at State.
In the 4A Girls 2-mile Regional, BC finished eighth and LCM 21st. Individually BC freshman Caitlin Denison (12th, 14:30) and sophomore Brittany Fonville (21st, 14:54) will also advance to State. Christina Hernandez of Hudson won with a time of 13:35.
The top four girls teams were Huffman, Lufkin Hudson, Fairfield and Hamshire-Fannett (Freshman Camille Harris, 2nd overall). The boys top four teams were Robinson, Lufkin Hudson, Huffman and Center.
