The City of Orange was the only entity seeing an increase in monthly sales tax collections for the month of August. The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the reimbursements to the cities, county and the one local special district.
Orange had an 18.5 percent increase in collections for August this year compared to August 2016. Other cities had small decreases, though Orange County had less than a 1 percent increase.
The sales tax returns are:
Bridge City: $25,838 for the month and $292,581 for the year to date, a decrease of 1.57 for the year to date.
Orange: $353,145 for the month and $3.65 million for the year to date, an increase of 10.61 for the year to date.
Pinehurst: $40,102 for the month and $509,711 for the year to date, a decrease of 1.52 percent for the year to date.
Vidor: $179,337 for the month and $2.16 for the year to date, a decrease of 1.64 percent for the year to date.
West Orange: $77,592 for the month and $947,042 for the year to date, a decrease of 1.64 percent for the year to date.
Orange County: $359,940 for the month and $3.7 million for the year to date, a decrease of 6.76 percent for the year to date.
Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3 (Little Cypress Fire Department): $12,288 for the month and $146,335 for the year to date.
