A man from Orange told police he was robbed outside a store on 16th Street Friday afternoon and then he chased the robber as he was driving away. He notified the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office after the robber’s car ran into a ditch along Interstate 10 in Louisiana.
Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the robber ran away into the woods before the Calcasieu deputies arrived. The victim then came back to Orange to file the robbery complaint.
The incident was reported at 3:47 p.m. Friday. The convenience store was in the 1500 block of 16th Street, according to the police report. Captain Enmon said the victim reported he had gone to the store to get cigarettes. When he was sitting in his car, the robber came up to him.

Orange police during the weekend had to deal with three men who were causing problems and resisted arrest. Two of them also face charges of misdemeanor public intoxication.
One of the men was at the police station when he began causing a disturbance by yelling, cursing and calling the dispatchers insulting names. Police said he later kicked a patrol vehicle hard enough to dent the door. 35-year-old David Nehemiah Diaz will face misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, damaging property and resisting arrest.
It wasn’t the first time in the day officers dealt with Diaz. They had gone to the Orange Public Library at 11:19 a.m. for complaints of a man causing a disturbance. Diaz was arrested for a traffic misdemeanor of walking in Front Street when a sidewalk is provided. He was taken to the Orange County Jail.
Officer P.H. McDonald reported he was called to the police station about 6 p.m. Saturday. The man was in the lobby of the police station yelling at the dispatchers to the point it was disruptive to them doing their jobs, Officer McDonald reported.
When the officer tried to handcuff the man, he kept pulling away and spit at the officer. Other officers came to help. As they tried to get him in the patrol car to go to the county jail, he kicked the door. Officer McDonald said the man also made threats to police.
Saturday morning at 8:23, officers went to Tractor Supply, 2020 Interstate 10 because a man was sleeping outside on the sidewalk near the kayaks. Officer J. Patronella reported the man would not get up, even though he opened his eyes and saw the police uniforms. He also smelled of alcohol. He pushed and pulled against police as they tried to handcuff him.
She said 43-year-old Thomas Kyle Huff of Orange was arrested for misdemeanor public intoxication and resisting arrest.
Then at 11:26 p.m. Saturday night, Officer L.T. Holland went to MacArthur Drive to respond to an alarm when he saw a man walking in the roadway directly into traffic. The officer said he was concerned about the man’s safety in the roadway.
The officer stopped in the roadway to help the man. Officer Holland said the man appeared to be intoxicated on methamphetamine and would not cooperate. The man struggled with the officer, who then used a Taser to control him.
Jerry Wayne Goodson Jr. of Mississippi will face misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest. Officer Holland reported Goodson was checked by Acadian Ambulance Service and medics with the Orange Fire Department. He was then taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur to get a medical clearance before being taken to the Orange County Jail. The officer said the man told him he had smoked synthetic marijuana.

Police are investigating an aggravated Sunday night at a house in the 1000 block of Fourth Street. Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported when he arrived about 10:10 p.m. he saw the victim lying on his back on the front porch of the house. The man had swelling and bruising around his right eye and an inch-long cut above his right eyebrow. He had been bleeding.
The man told Officer Mulhollan he had been talking to a woman in the yard when a man walked up and asked if he was ‘Justin.’ Before the victim could reply, the man began hitting him.
The victim said the woman and the man drove off in a red Chevrolet pickup truck with black rims. The victim said a friend was going to drive him to see a doctor for the injuries.

An unknown driver crashed into a metal fence on Sunset Drive early Saturday morning. Police were called to a house in the 1700 block of Sunset at 4:25 a.m. to report damage to the fence. The driver left before anyone could get a description.

A Bridge City man Friday night tried to avoid a piece of a tree on 16th Street, ran off the road and ended up hitting a large tree and a fence. Orange police report he was not injured.
Officer P.H. McDonald reported the crash was reported at 9:37 p.m. Friday in the 4000 block of North 16th Street near Lock Street. He said 35-year-old Darrell Charrier was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe southbound. Charrier swerved to avoid the tree debris in the roadway. He went into a ditch, then hit the tree and a fence.
