Orange police arrested a 26-year-old Indiana man early Monday morning while investigating a burglary in progress at a 16th Street convenience store that was closed for the night. Captain Robert Enmon reported that two men ran away from the store and Officer P.M. McDonald caught one of them as he was climbing a fence. A Taser shock gun was used to subdue the man. The other man drove away in a dark-colored vehicle.
Police got a call at 12:39 a.m. about a burglary at the Quick Stop, 3110 North 16th Street. Officers later found a hole in the back of the store. They also recovered a sledge hammer, two crow bars, black cloth bags and two dark cloth gloves.
Walter Joseph Fisk, whose address is listed in Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested and faces charges of burglary and evading arrest.
A 15-year-old scared away a burglar about 9 Friday night in the 1800 block of Rein Avenue, west of 16th Street. The teen heard glass breaking and went into a bedroom, then heard more breaking glass. The youth went to the bathroom and saw an arm reaching through a broken window. The arm had on a black long sleeved-shirt with a black glove covering the hand. The teen could not determine the sex or race of the arm. The youth hollered and the arm disappeared. Police found three different broken windows but could not find a person nearby. No one got inside and nothing was reported missing.
Police arrested a 20-year-old woman Friday afternoon on felony possession of marijuana after narcotics officers went to her apartment. Sgt. Jason Laughlin reported he went for a “knock and talk” at the apartment complex at 111 Pine Avenue to check on suspected drug activity. The woman at the apartment gave him permission to search. Detective Captain Cliff Hargrave said four ounces of marijuana was found in the apartment along with cash. 20-year-old Jasmine Jackson was taken to the Orange County Jail for felony possession of marijuana.
A 65-quart Yeti cooler was stolen from the back of a pickup truck at the International Apartments on Meeks Drive Thursday night. Orange Officer L.A. Lovelace reported the cable lock on the cooler had been cut and the drinks inside were dumped on the ground. The owner had parked the truck about 10 Thursday night and discovered the khaki-colored cooler missing about 5:45 a.m. Friday.
A burglary at a business on Womack Road was reported Sunday morning. An employee at Norman Construction in the 3300 block of Womack, told police he found a gate open about 7 a.m. He said it appeared someone knew the combination to the gate lock. The company was missing 100 feet of copper welding rods, 50 feet of ground wire, a gouging rig and two broken water pumps. Then on Monday morning more items were discovered missing, including two push lawn mowers owned by an employee. Also missing was a sledge hammer. Officer T.P. Pruitt on Monday morning reported that a locked double door on a storage building had the handle knocked off and the doors pried open.
