Update: The Texas Department of Public Safety has filed intoxication manslaughter charges against a Vidor man who was driving a pickup truck that hit and killed a pedestrian Monday night.
31-year-old Christopher Morgan has been charged with the second degree felony. The charge carries a prison sentence of two to 20 years plus a maximum fine of $10,000.
DPS Sergeant Stephanie Davis said 41-year-old Shane Harold Rollins was killed about 10 Monday night on Concord Road, about a mile south of Vidor.
She said a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on Concord and Rollins was walking on the side of the road northbound facing traffic.
For some reason, the pickup truck went off the roadway and hit Rollins. The truck continued traveling into a wooded area before it stopped.
Sergeant Davis said blood samples have been submitted to the DPS laboratory for testing.

A Vidor man was killed Monday night in an auto-pedestrian crash. Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that at about 10:00 PM Monday a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on Concord Road about a mile south of Vidor when for unknown reasons the pickup truck traveled off the roadway and struck a pedestrian who was walking northbound on the west side of the roadway facing traffic. The vehicle continued off the roadway and into the woods before coming to rest.
The pedestrian Shane Harold Rollins, age 41, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn. The driver of the pickup truck Christopher Morgan, age 31, of Vidor was transported to Baptist Hospital in Orange with minor injuries and was later released from the hospital. Sergeant Davis indicated DPS troopers are still investigating all possible factors that contributed to the fatal crash.
