A Florida truck driver got a chance to sleep in the Orange County Jail because he wouldn’t leave the sleeper of his 18-wheel rig parked on private property. Orange Police Lieutenant J.E. Davis Jr. reported the man faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing.
Lieutenant Davis went to the International Paper Co. mill trucking terminal at 6:17 Saturday morning. Security guards called police because a truck driver was parking and sleeping in his rig on the private property.
Lieutenant Davis said he had to knock on the truck several times before the man got out of the sleeper area. The man refused to show his driver’s license to police. He went back into the sleeper area and pulled the curtain closed.
Lieutenant Davis said he didn’t know whether the man had weapons and he threatened to break out the windows. Finally, the officer pulled his Taser shock gun and got the man to get out. At that time, he was arrested.
Not only was the man arrested, but his rig was towed away.
