Bridge City Mayor Kirk Roccaforte has served his city for over a decade. He has also served six years on the board of the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC). Roccaforte has been elected to be the new president of the regional commission. Mayor Roccaforte said he is honored to be a small part of the commission and on its board. He added that he is really looking forward to being the president and admits it is a very high honor for him.
The Bridge City mayor is excited to take on his new position and enthusiastic about the service of the regional planning commission. Roccaforte stated the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission is a vital part of this area for Orange, Jefferson, and Hardin Counties. He pointed out it was the first place to go when Bridge City started dealing with hurricane issues. In addition the SETRPC operates the 911 center for the region, the senior citizens’ assistance program, and it’s just a wonderful place according to Roccaforte.
Orange County Commissioner Barry Burton of Precinct 2 will be sworn in as third vice president as well during the meeting. The annual meeting of the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission will be Wednesday, January 20.
