A 14-year-old girl middle school student is in juvenile detention for assault in connection with hitting two younger girls and a woman teacher during school Wednesday. The West Orange-Cove school district reports no one was seriously hurt.
Orange Police Officer L.A. Lovelace reported the student also tried to hit another teacher and a coach. Police were called at 9 a.m. Wednesday to West Orange-Stark Middle School on Green Avenue. Officer Lovelace said the 14-year-old was taken into custody and booked at the police department. She has been taken to the juvenile detention center in Jefferson County.
Lorraine Shannon, spokeswoman for the school district, said the “administrative staff took quick action in order to ensure the safety of all individuals at the campus.” The school has taken disciplinary action for the 14-year-old.
