As of Monday afternoon Orange County Road and Bridge Engineer Clark Slacum has good news for residents in the Bessie Heights Area of the county. Slacum reported construction crews have completed enough work to allow traffic on three bridges and reopen three roads in Bessie Heights. He did advise there are some final details to complete, but they should be able to wrap those up with the roads open to the public.
The Lane of the Oaks, Thomas Road, and Bessie Heights Lane were closed while bridges were being repaired on them. Slacum said the improper material had been ordered for the guard rails on those bridges which delayed the completion of the project and had the bridges and roads closed to through traffic for several weeks. Despite some work still in progress Thomas Road was open about a week ago. The Lane of the Oaks opened late on Friday, and Bessie Heights Lane was clear for traffic around 3:00 Monday afternoon.
