Bridge City and Liberty went toe to toe Thursday night in Baytown in a one game winner take all third round matchup. A date that had been marked on the calendar since the beginning of the season.
The pitching matchup of Carson Fall vs. Liberty’s Brookelyn Taylor did not disappoint. For five innings the two threw zero’s on the scoreboard.
In the sixth, Taylor helps herself with a single. She stole second and was sacrificed to third. A Vickers bunted, which was mishandled by Fall, and Taylor scored the first run of the game.
Then in the sixth with two outs, Bailee Slack triples and then scores on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. In the bottom of the seventh, BC made it interesting after reaching on an error but Taylor handled the next two batters to end the game.
Fall finished with 11K’s and one walk, giving up 6 hits. Taylor pitched a one hitter (Anna Autrey), struck out 11 and walked none. Leadoff hitter Slack was 4-4 with 3 stolen bases. The Cards end a fine season under first year head coach Kylie Bradley at 27-10-1. Liberty (35-2) will play the winner between Gateway/Salado.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats fell to the East Bernard Brahamettes in game 1 of the regional quarterfinals 7-2.
Aubree Beck had two hits and a run scored. Hallee Becker had an in the park homerun and the 2 RBIs on the night. Abby Broussard had a single.
The Lady Bobcats look to win two tomorrow beginning at 6:00 in Crosby.

Brycen Tait and the Orangefield Bobcats shutout Tarkington 5-0 in game one of their series at Lamar.
Tait pitched a five hit shutout with 5K’s and just one walk. Logan Cheek was 2-3 with 2RBI’s and Kane Smith was 3-4 with a double and three runs scored.
Game 2 is Friday at Lamar.
