At approximately 1:30pm, there was a three vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 62 in Mauriceville. The crash involved a commercial motor vehicle. A 2013 Freightliner flatbed truck was stopped for a red traffic light at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 62. A 2010 Chevrolet Utility van was traveling eastbound on Highway 12 and ran into the back of the Freightliner. Debris from the collision struck a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck that was stopped in the outside lane of Highway 12. The driver of the Chevrolet Utility van, Sylvester Hill, 50, of Beaumont, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont. Hill’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening, but he has several broken bones and a large laceration across his forehead. The driver of the Freightliner, Michael Lopez, 57, of Beaumont, was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, Joseph Guidry, 46, of Vidor, did not sustain any injuries. At this time, Troopers are working to determine the contributing factor(s) of this crash.
