TPWD is now conducting a survey to gather angler input regarding lowering the 14 inch slot limit to 12 inches in the Sabine River and surrounding river systems on the Texas Coast. The new rule would not be for just high school or college fishing tournaments participants but for everyone. The department did their own survey of the bass in this area and it reflected what many of us here knew – the brackish coastal waters of Southeast Texas provide a harsh environment for largemouth bass. Which explains why the many bass in the area don’t get bigger.
If you are a bass fisherman in Southeast Texas please take a moment to complete this survey. It will only take a moment but would help the state understand the opinion of local anglers.
(They had the survey down but it was back up by Sept. 30)
