Sixteenth Street in Orange was closed down for several hours Thursday night after an accident involving three vehicles.
At approximately 9:30pm first responders were called to 2400 block of 16th St. near the Putnam Ave. intersection which is just south of HEB. Initial reports say a BMW was traveling north on 16th when a Toyota Highlander, traveling south, entered the center lane and then began to turn into the driveway of their home on the east side of 16th.
The BMW struck the back side of the Highlander, spinning it hard enough to throw a woman riding in the back seat, out of the window. She sustained serious injuries and later passed at the hospital. The driver of the Highlander, the woman’s husband, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A Camaro was also struck in the accident with minor damage. The occupants of the BMW and Camaro did not receive injuries that required Acadian transport.
The crash is under investigation by Orange Police.
