Bridge City Middle School hosted the Vidor Pirates Thursday night.
The 8th grade red team (5-2) capped the night with a 38-8 victory over the pirates. Offensive standouts were Hudson Hoffman who had 150 yards passing and a touchdown. Bryce Breeden had another 100 plus yard game on the ground including two touchdown runs, and caught several nice passes. Luke Nelson had a nice 30 yard reception to set up a Cardinal score. Carson Bounds had two touchdowns with a 25 yard scamper and a long 65 yard touchdown catch. Luke Nelson led the defense with two interceptions to set up scoring drives for Big Red. Alex Chappell, Bryce Breeden, and Jayden Dodge were the leading tacklers. CJ Larkin, Caleb Heraldez, Carson Bounds, Reece Skinner, and Slade Landry also played well. The special teams unit was led by Drake Blackwell who had a 60 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Breeden and Dodge make several key tackles on kickoff.
The 7th grade white team (4-2) beat the Pirates 8-0. Leading the defense was Brayden Bull, Corban Palfy, J.Mario Carranza, Davis Ritchey, Landon Sanchez, Macon Mendoza, and Jimmy Bercian. The offense was led by running backs Davis Ritchey, Kowlen Killingsworth, and J.Mario Carranza who had the touchdown run for the Cardinals. Brody Lonion played well at quarterback, and Macon Mendoza had a nice catch. Kowlen Killingsworth and Jimmy Bercian played well on special teams.
The 7th grade red team (3-3-1) tied Vidor 14-14. Offensive standouts included Conner Yost, Ayden Wiley (touchdown catch), Braxton Colunga, Gage King, Romeo Mendoza, and Paxton Arkeen (touchdown run). Miguel Celedon, Aaron Toups, Jackson Cobb, Angel Vazquez, and Konner Quigley played well up front on the line. The defense was led by Aaron Toups, Romeo Mendoza, Conner Yost, Braxton Colunga, Jaydon Garcia, Kase Downs. Brayden Frederick made several nice tackles and had a clutch interception. Jaydon Garcia had a forced fumble on special teams, while Conner Yost had a fumble recovery.
The 8th grade white team (2-4-1) fell to the pirates 6-0. Offensive leaders were Braylyn Atia, Tanner Moore, Carson Richey, and Jackson Richey. Defensive leaders were Hayden Holden, Daxton Plessala, Derrek LeBlanc, Maddox Campbell, and Brayan Collazo. Holden and Leblanc had fumble recoveries on defense.
We will play games on both Tuesday and Thursday next week. On Tuesday, October 25th our 8th grade B team will host St. Anne at 6:00 at Larry Ward Stadium. On Thursday, October 27th the other three teams will travel to Silsbee to take on the Tigers, starting play with our 7B at 4:30.
