West Orange-Stark improved to 4-1 with a 34-14 Homecoming win over Almeta Crawford (2-3). The Mustangs put up 471 yards of offense to 273 for the Chargers.
RB Khelvy Jefferson and QB Marcus Turner lead the way. Jefferson rushed 18 times for 192 yds. and three TD’s while Turner ran for 134 yds. and completed 10-14 passes for 114 yds. and a score. Turner spread the ball to nine different receivers.
WOS will be off this week and then open district play at Jasper.

The Orangefield Bobcats opened up district play shutting out the Hardin Hornets 59-0. The fireworks started early as the Hornets let the opening kickoff sail over their head and the ball ended up stopping on the half yard line where the Bobcats recovered. Carson Gonzales then rushed in the QB sneak from the one yard line to start the scoring. Gonzales would go on to have a huge night with 3 rushing TD’s and 2 passing TD’s. The offensive line had a great game as Mason Manning rushed for 143 yards and a score and Jose Lecea had 107 yards rushing and one score. Manning and Zach Morrow would each have touchdown receptions.
Special teams also had a huge night. Ty Butler came up big on his kickoffs, pinning the Hornets deep all night. Ty also converted all 8 extra points and tacked on a field goal late in the game. Zach Morrow got the crowd on their feet in the 2nd quarter when he took a punt back 61 yards for a score. The defensive front stuffed the Hornets rushing game all night long and held the Hornets to a total of 105 yards. The linebacker tandem of Logan Trahan and Carson Worthy were making plays all over the field. Kaleb Menard and Easton Sprayberry each had sacks on the night. The defensive line of William Crosby, Kaleb Myers, and Fernando Sandoval-Rodriguez also played solid all night. The Bobcats (3-2) travel to face Anahuac (4-1) Friday at 7:30.

Deweyville won their big district opener against West Sabine 27-18. The Pirates (4-1) lead start to finish, using a big dose of Elijah Milton. He carried the ball 12 times for 78 yds. and 2 scores and caught two passes for 99 yds. and a TD. QB Kallel Crooks was 3-3 for 103 yds. as the offense posted 285 yds. Crooks also had an interception on the defensive side of the ball and Hayden Collins forced a fumble and recovered another. The Pirates travel to Colmesneil (2-3) Friday.

The Bridge City Cardinals (4-0, 1-0) traveled to Lumberton and beat the Raiders 28-7 to open district. Lumberton scored first after a BC fumble and then the defense shutdown the Raiders (0-4) while the offense used RB Ashton Sumrall (31-159 and a TD) to wear down Lumberton’s defense. Austin Bellanger had five receptions for 79 yds. and a nifty TD catch off a tipped ball. The Cards host Vidor (1-3, 0-1) on Friday.
